A is for Arrows
Toronto-based duo A is for Arrows released their latest single “Go Slow” on April 7th.
With the help of producer/songwriter, Benjamin Nudds, the pop-electro single is a female empowerment anthem.
"I like to think that on a very rare occasion, I can be the confident person that I envision in my head. Go Slow is that song for me. It’s the mirror image of the scared and insecure human looking back, it’s the self-assured, self- aware and fearless version of self. The one that doesn’t take no for an answer, the girl that will go up to anyone in anyplace and have a conversation and not because they aren’t afraid, but because they stare their fears in the face and go right through. This song is meant to inspire and empower," says Alessia.
The single follows their debut release "Without You" and more recently "Roses". Alessia B Nole and Eric Robbs will be releasing their debut EP later this year.
“Go Slow” is now available worldwide.

Introduce the band - what's your story?
We’re A is for Arrows! We’re a duo from Toronto, Canada.
Eric and I met by coincidence. Our parents met at a restaurant and chatted about their kids that lock themselves in their rooms and play music all day. They introduced us and we started a band...and here we are today!
How would you define A is for Arrows, the band?
I like to think of our band as ever evolving, our whole motto (from my perspective at least) or ideology is that we’re only human. We’re meant to make mistakes and grow and try different things, we’re also big believers in kindness and not finding weakness in it, but strength.
Also, our band name because it looks and feels ambiguous; it doesn’t tell anyone too much or too little about us. I think it’s also kind of a strange name, so to me thats even cooler haha.
"Go Slow" is your new single - what's the inspiration behind this song?
I was inspired by love when we started writing “Go Slow”. The lyrics are about falling in love with someone, but it’s also evolved (as all music does and as we do) into somewhat of a female empowerment track for me - It’s opened my eyes to the type of messages I’d like to speak about in the future through my songwriting.
When I play this song live, I feel my most confident, I feel strong, I feel feminine in my own way, sexy and cool. Everyone- Female/Male/Non-Binary is entitled to feel that kind of strength in terms of their self-expression, and this song feels that way to me.
Could you describe to us the songwriting/production process? Who helped you create it?
This song started with the melody and words “go slow, slow, slow”, that you already hear in the finished product! Eric and I put some production behind it and a chorus, then brought the track to our producer/songwriting partner Benjamin Nudds. Ben is the guy. You know when you can hear something in your head, and when you try to get it out, it sounds nothing like your thoughts? Ben has a way of translating these ideas and making sense of them….Ben is the guy. We worked a lot on the concept and the lyrics from there and then brought it to Joel Stouffer who worked on the production alongside Ben!
What can you tell us about the visuals for this particular song?
The visuals for this song are euphoric and passionate. The neon lights are sultry, the backseat of a car filled with smoke is sexy, and the darkness of the night is alluring. We wanted the video to feel sensual, empowering, and hypnotic - hypnotic in moving your hips with the lyrics.
What made you want to release "Go Slow" as a single? What message do you want to convey through this song?
This song has an energy that I think is easy to understand, which is why I thought it would be a great choice as a single!
Could you tell us about your upcoming debut EP?
The Debut EP is a journey of love and self-reflection. That’s all I’ll say for now! I can’t wait to let you all hear it!
What's your favorite part about being in a band?
Making art with friends. And beer.
What are your thoughts on today's global situation? How are you holding up?
Ah the global situation- my thoughts on it changes day to day.
There are some days where I don’t really feel like doing much because it sometimes feels like there’s a blanket of sadness covering the whole world, it hurts me knowing so many people are dying and there’s not much we can do about it, except stay home! Which, by the way, everyone should be doing! At the same time, aside from the obvious reasons for being sad - I do believe the world as a whole needed this pause, I think the human race needed to be reminded what’s important in life, and that's each other.
What message do you want to give to the world? In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?
Be kind, you have no idea what someone is going through, and they have no idea what you’re going through. It takes so much energy to be cruel than it does to be considerate. We all need more kindness and empathy, especially in these challenging times.
