Jenna Lotti

I did interview Jenna Lotti in the past but since I’ve changed my website and my branding, I thought it would be a good idea to start over. Today she has a new single out. It’s called “Skating On Saturn Rings” and it is an instant smash. I immediately fell in love with it because of the melodies and the production. Listening to it will only make you feel good. It’s a great pop record that deserves a lot of attention. Plus, Jenna sounds amazing on it.

Congrats Jenna on this new song. It’s a banger !!

“Skating On Saturn Rings” is now available everywhere :)

Introduce yourself - what's your story?

Hi I am Jenna Lotti and I'm an artist and mom based in LA :) I’ve been writing and releasing music for about 10 years now. I'm originally from Boston and moved to LA 5 years ago with my husband. We have a one year old baby boy :)

You're getting ready to release your new single "Skating on Saturn Rings" - what's the inspiration behind this song?

This song is about the idea that if I got everything I ever dreamed of, would I truly be happy? As an artist and creative, I'm constantly thinking about what's next and never really stop to enjoy the small victories. I tend to have a "destination happiness" mindset when it comes to my career. Meaning that I never feel content with where I'm at. Skating on Saturns Rings explores the idea that if I got to the pinnacle of my dreams, I wonder if I would truly feel content & happy.

Could you describe the songwriting/production process for this record? Who helped you create it? When did you start working on it?

I wrote this song with Devon O’Connor & Taylor Sparks. This was the first time I met Devon and we just clicked right away. Taylor started working on some production ideas while Devon and I started talking about life etc. I knew I wanted to create a more upbeat song with inspiration from space & the 70s. Devon and I started writing some lyrics & melodies that we ended up re-writing a few times. I kept challenging the concept we had because I didn't feel like it was right yet. Then Devon said something like “what if it was like your skating on Saturns rings?” and I GASPED. After that, the song kind of wrote itself. It was truly a collaborative effort and Taylor killed the production on it!

What did you feel when writing this song?

I felt Excited!

What's your favorite thing about this single?

My favorite thing about it is the title and the visual of the title.

What made you want to release "Skating on Saturn Rings" as a single?

I feel like this song opened up the flood gates of creativity for me. It sparked something new and exciting in me and started a whole wave of new songs. Releasing it as a single was a no brainer to me.

What can you tell us about the artwork?

I worked with the artist @morysetta on the artwork. I found her on instagram and reached out to her. She does amazing trippy collage pieces that are so cool. I love how it turned out!

What's your goal for this song?

My goal always for any of my songs is to reach people who can connect with it.

As an artist, what is the hardest part? And what is the best part?

The hardest part for me is social media. The constant need to post and create content is exhausting. The best part is the creative process. When you write a good song that you love, that is the best feeling.

How's it like to be a woman in the music industry? What message would you like to give to women out there?

It’s hard for sure, in any industry! In general, It's hard to be a woman. We face so many challenges everyday. The message I would give to other women is to be brave, bold and relentless.

What are your thoughts on today's music industry? If you could change one thing, what would it be?

Oh gosh I have so many thoughts lol. It is SO HARD to be an artist right now. The industry is changing so fast and honestly, I am having a hard time keeping up. The pressure to constantly put out new music, post on socials everyday, create content, stay relevant, build a fan base, gain new followers on several different apps, go viral if you want people to work with you, it's just all too much. Most days, I wish the internet didn’t exist lol. It used to be that an artist would put out an album then take some time off to live their life and get inspiration for their next project. Nowadays, you can’t really do that especially if you are an independent artist who is trying to grow.

What advice would you give to artists out there?

Just do you. Do what feels right. Keep your head down and try not to compare your journey with anyone else's.

In your opinion, what would make the world a better place?

Kindness & compassion.

What biggest life lessons have you learned so far?

Hmm this is a hard one! 1. Our thoughts are so powerful. 2. Intuition is always right. 3. Failure = Growth.
